From BIGGA Factory to Chennai’s streets: Ultraviolette plugs into Tamil Nadu’s electric performance revolution

CHENNAI, SEPT 16

Can an electric motorcycle showroom become more than a sales outlet? Ultraviolette Automotive is betting on precisely that proposition in Chennai, where its newly launched UV Space Station in Porur seeks to put performance, technology and customer experience at the centre of the electric-mobility conversation.

The launch of the new facility, in partnership with M/s. Savirro Motors LLP, marks the company’s third UV Space Station in Chennai and comes as Ultraviolette moves to deepen its presence in Tamil Nadu alongside a major expansion of its manufacturing and product ecosystem.

  • UV Space Station in Porur becomes the brand’s third Chennai destination as X-47 Crossover and F77s hit the market
  • Narayan Subramaniam says Chennai’s automotive legacy makes the city an important launchpad for globally competitive mobility solutions
  • X-47 brings radar-powered rider assistance, while F77s reinforces Ultraviolette’s performance-electric proposition
  • New outlet offers test rides, sales, service support, genuine spares and accessories under one roof
  • BIGGA Factory in Hosur and Battery Flex BaaS platform add manufacturing muscle and ownership flexibility

The Porur outlet will make the X-47 Crossover and F77s available for sale while offering customers an immersive experience spanning product demonstrations, personalised test rides, sales consultations, customer assistance, genuine spares and accessories.

It is ideally located at 5/4, Sri Ram Nagar, Karambakkam, Porur, Chennai – 600116.

The retail expansion assumes added significance against the backdrop of Ultraviolette’s recently announced BIGGA (Big Global Ambition) Factory in Hosur, the introduction of its Battery Flex (BaaS) ownership platform and the arrival of the X-47 Crossover.

Together, these initiatives point to an integrated strategy: expand production, widen the product portfolio, make ownership more flexible and bring the brand physically closer to customers.

Chennai gets a closer look at electric performance

The UV Space Station will showcase Ultraviolette’s performance motorcycles, with the X-47 Crossover and F77s positioned around the company’s technology-led electric performance proposition.

The motorcycles feature a powertrain delivering 40.2 hp and 100 Nm of torque, enabling 0-60 km/h acceleration in 2.8 seconds. A 10.3 kWh battery pack provides an IDC-certified range of up to 323 km on a single charge.

For prospective customers, however, the Porur facility is designed to go beyond specifications on paper, providing an opportunity to experience the motorcycles through test rides and product demonstrations before purchase.

X-47: radar enters the electric-motorcycle equation

The X-47 Crossover brings technology usually associated with advanced automotive safety systems into the electric motorcycle space.

Ultraviolette describes the X-47 as the world’s first electric motorcycle in its segment to offer radar as standard. It features a 5-inch TFT display, three ride modes, long-travel suspension and radial all-terrain tyres, aimed at providing versatility across different riding conditions.

Its UV Radar Intelligence and UV HyperSense Advanced Rider Assistance System are enabled by a 77 GHz rear radar supporting functions including blind-spot detection, lane-change assist, overtake alerts and rear-collision warnings.

The motorcycle also features an integrated dashcam and what the company describes as the world’s most power-dense air-cooled onboard charger, developed in-house.

Narayan Subramaniam: Chennai is an important part of the journey

Commenting on the launch, Narayan Subramaniam, Co-founder & CEO, Ultraviolette, said: “This is an exciting time for us as we expand across Chennai with the launch of our third space station here. Tamil Nadu offers an ideal environment for us to build and scale globally competitive mobility solutions from India.”

He added that as the company scales manufacturing through its BIGGA Factory, it is “equally focused on building a strong physical presence that brings Ultraviolette closer to our community.”

“Chennai, with its deep-rooted automotive legacy and rapidly evolving urban landscape, is an important part of this journey,” Subramaniam said.

“Our new UV Space Station in Porur creates a destination where riders and enthusiasts can experience the technology, design, and performance that define Ultraviolette,” he added.

Hosur manufacturing expansion meets Chennai retail push

Ultraviolette’s retail expansion in Chennai comes alongside its planned manufacturing scale-up in Tamil Nadu.

The BIGGA Factory in Hosur is designed to significantly increase production capacity, support the company’s expanding product portfolio and accelerate its ambitions in Indian and international markets. The facility is planned for phased capacity expansion and is equipped with advanced manufacturing technologies.

The initiative also adds another dimension to Tamil Nadu’s already established automotive and manufacturing ecosystem, as electric two-wheelers increasingly become part of the state’s mobility and industrial landscape.

Battery Flex seeks to change the ownership equation

Alongside manufacturing and retail expansion, Ultraviolette has introduced Battery Flex (BaaS), a flexible ownership model aimed at reducing the upfront cost of electric-motorcycle ownership.

Under the model, customers can own the X-47 from ₹1,49,000, while battery subscriptions begin at ₹2,323 per month.

By separating vehicle and battery ownership costs, the company says the model can make advanced electric mobility more accessible while providing customers with greater flexibility.

The Porur UV Space Station is therefore more than another retail address for the company. It becomes a physical touchpoint for a broader proposition combining performance motorcycles, advanced rider technology, manufacturing expansion and alternative ownership models.
