AHMEDABAD, OCT 3
Gujarat’s formidable plastics manufacturing base is set to get a bigger global shop window with the Gujarat State Plastic Manufacturers Association (GSPMA) announcing the 10th edition of its flagship PLEXPOINDIA’27, an exhibition that aims to connect the State’s large MSME ecosystem with finance, advanced machinery, automation, sustainable technologies and international buyers.
The four-day exhibition will be held at the Helipad Exhibition Centre, Gandhinagar, from September 17 to 20, 2027, with organisers targeting more than 900 exhibitors, including overseas participants, and business visitor footfall of over 1.25 lakh.
The announcement was made at a launch event at Golden Glory Hall, Karnavati Club, Ahmedabad, on Saturday.
MSMEs at the heart of the growth pitch
With Gujarat accounting for about 35% of India’s plastic industries, the organisers said PLEXPOINDIA’27 would particularly seek to create new avenues for small and medium manufacturers to upgrade technology, improve productivity, address environmental compliance and expand into domestic and overseas markets.
Answering a query on what special opportunities the exhibition would create for Gujarat’s plastic MSMEs to access finance, automation, pollution-control solutions, advanced machinery and new technologies, PLEXPOINDIA’27 Chairman Bharat Patel and Shailesh Patel said government schemes would provide an important support base, while the association would facilitate business expansion.
“The Central and state governments have many schemes for plastic MSMEs, including subsidy and take care of pollution by setting up common facility. On our part, we will extend all possible help to expand their business both in domestic, global markets.”
The organisers said the exhibition would bring manufacturers, machinery suppliers, polymer and raw-material companies, mould and die makers, packaging companies, recyclers, technology providers, buyers and other stakeholders onto a common platform.
35% industry concentration, 30% raw material from recycling
The organisers also sought to underline Gujarat’s growing emphasis on environmental management even as the State remains one of the country’s principal plastics manufacturing centres.
“With 35 percent of the plastic industries concentrated in Gujarat, we have taken all pro-active measures to control pollution. We meet nearly 30 percent of the raw material by recycling plastics and thus help in circular economy,” Bharat Patel and Shailesh Patel added.
The sustainability focus is expected to extend across the exhibition, with organisers planning to showcase recycling technologies, circular-economy solutions, sustainable plastics, value-added products and advanced manufacturing systems.
From 1979 to a global plastics platform
PLEXPOINDIA’27 also represents the latest chapter in a trade-exhibition journey that GSPMA traces back to 1979, when it hosted what it describes as India’s first plastic exhibition in Ahmedabad.
Since then, the association said, successive editions of PLEXPO have evolved alongside the expansion of India’s plastics processing and manufacturing ecosystem.
The 2027 edition is being positioned as more than a conventional product exhibition, with the organisers seeking to turn it into a business and technology platform for the entire plastics value chain.
The exhibition will facilitate business-to-business meetings, technology exchange, product innovation, networking and market discovery, while giving MSMEs an opportunity to present their products and manufacturing capabilities before larger domestic and international buyers.
Reverse Buyer-Seller Meet on the cards
A key component planned for the 2027 edition is a Reverse Buyer-Seller Meet (RBSM), designed to bring potential buyers directly into interaction with manufacturers and suppliers.
GSPMA said it would encourage participation from leading Indian and international companies, industry associations, institutional buyers and overseas business delegations.
For Gujarat’s MSMEs, the significance could extend beyond exhibiting products: the platform is intended to help manufacturers identify new customers, understand technology trends, forge partnerships and explore export opportunities.
Gujarat seeks stronger global plastics footprint
The organisers said the exhibition would also reinforce Gujarat’s position as a major centre for plastics processing, manufacturing, investment and exports.
The 30,000-sq-metre exhibition is expected to bring together the diverse segments of the plastics value chain—from raw materials and machinery to processing, moulds and dies, packaging, recycling and technology.
The larger message from GSPMA is that the next phase of Gujarat’s plastics growth will depend not merely on higher production, but on technology adoption, resource efficiency, environmental compliance, recycling and access to global markets.
With PLEXPOINDIA’27, the association is seeking to create a single platform where those strands—MSME growth, technology, sustainability and global business—meet.
