Adani Ports’ Mundra Port has rewritten India’s maritime performance benchmarks by handling an unprecedented 20.27 million metric tonnes (MMT) of cargo in October 2026, becoming the first port in the country to cross the 20-million-tonne mark in a single month. The landmark performance, accompanied by record container throughput, terminal productivity and railway operations, underscores the scale of Mundra’s integrated port-and-logistics infrastructure and its growing role in facilitating international trade.
The achievement extended across the port’s container operations, which recorded their highest-ever monthly throughput of 8.59 lakh twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) during October. The performance reflects Mundra Port’s expanding container-handling capabilities and infrastructure capacity to support growing trade volumes.
Mundra’s CT3 terminal also set a new record by handling 3.18 lakh TEUs in October, surpassing its previous high of 3.10 lakh TEUs achieved in September 2026. This is the highest-ever monthly volume handled by a single container terminal in India. The T2 Terminal, meanwhile, registered its own monthly high of 1.55 lakh TEUs.
The port also achieved a significant milestone in the dry cargo segment. Its Dry Cargo Terminal handled 0.79 MMT of fertiliser during October, marking its highest-ever monthly fertiliser volume.
SPRH, an important component of Mundra Port’s multimodal logistics network, recorded its highest-ever monthly handling of 1.57 lakh TEUs, exceeding its previous record of 1.54 lakh TEUs achieved in December 2025. The team also registered its highest-ever exchange of 246 TEUs per rake.
Mundra Port’s railway operations added another dimension to the record-breaking month. The port handled 1,870 trains during October, comprising 282 goods trains and 1,588 container trains. The container train movement included 793 export and 795 import trains. The railway network handled a total cargo volume of 3.87 MMT during the month.
A further milestone came in double-stack container train operations, with the Mundra Port Railway team handling a record 1,038 double-stack rakes in October. Rail operations also achieved an all-time high container volume of 1.99 lakh TEUs.
The multiple records achieved across cargo handling, container terminals and railway operations in a single month reflect Mundra Port’s extensive infrastructure, strong rail connectivity and operational capabilities across diverse cargo categories. Together, these milestones further consolidate its position among India’s leading ports and as an integrated logistics gateway for international trade
