As many as 324 recruits were attested with the Madras Regimental Centre, Wellington at the historic drill ground of Shringesh Barracks.
The recruits after 46 weeks of tough training could see their dreams come true when they wore olive green and marched past the prestigious enclosed drill square.
While addressing the parade Reviewing Officer congratulated meritorious recruits and appreciated the instructors and staff for achieving highest standards of drill in the Attestation Parade and lauded the effort of Madras Regiment Centre to train smart and effective soldiers under the prevailing pandemic situation and commended all stakeholders for their hardwork in this situation.
He also congratulated the parents of the young soldiers in this moment of pride and glory, who could not witness the parade due to caveats imposed by COVID 19. The Madras Regiment is the oldest Infantry Regiment of the Indian Army with its Regimental Centre at Wellington, a release from Defence PRO said.
