Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly has adopted a resolution on Friday empowering the Speaker to take necessary action against those elected representatives and others who had created a ruckus in the Assembly premises here on Wednesday.
Reading out the resolution, Minister for Legislative Affairs Buggana Rajendranath said, “The House resolves to empower Speaker, Sri Tammineni Sitaram to take appropriate action against the legislators and others responsible for the unruly incident that took place in the Assembly premises on Thursday’’.
The resolution was adopted by the House by voice vote. Earlier, after sensing the mood of the House, which was in favour of taking action against the Leader of Opposition for his unparliamentary utterances, and unruly behaviour in the Assembly premises and using foul language against the officials, the Speaker has asked him to express regret for the incident failing which he has to go by the collective sense of the House.
The video clippings of the previous day scuffle were shown repeatedly in the House.
The Speaker said that the language used during the incident was derogatory and unparliamentary and when emotions were running high it could be possible for the slip of tongue at the spur of the moment and some such words had come out, which we cannot deny.
As a senior member and three-time chief minister it would be better if you express regret on the issue and take the issue to a dignified and logical conclusion.
When there was no proper reply from the Opposition benches, the resolution was read out and it was adopted which enables the Speaker to take action against the TDP legislators and others present in Assembly premises when the incident took place on Wednesday.
The Speaker directed the police officials to identify the outsiders present during the incident and take criminal action against them.
Those who spoke in favour of the resolution and demanded action against the TDP leader among others were Jakkampudi Raja, Gollapudi Babu Rao, Ambati Rambabu, Appalraju, Vara Prasad.
