The sleuths of Cyber Cell in Gujarat police have arrested nine owners of Fair Price Shops (FPS) from Anand, in connection with the ‘fingerprints scam’ surfaced recently, police sources said.
In connection this, Bharat Chaudhary, 26, Dushyant Parmar, 22, and Dhaval Patel, 32, an electronics and communications engineer from Anand were arrested on December 7 and 8. It is alleged that the accused were indulged in illegal selling of PDS food grains in open market.
Based on their confession given by the accused, the police have arrested Rameshchandra Mohnani, 64; Joytaram Sargara, 38; Dilip Patel, 56; Manhar Solanki, 65; Vinod Vaghela, 43; Gangaram Vasava, 54; Chetan Tulsani, 42; Gangasagar Pandey, 38; and Praful Thakor, 62 on Friday. All of them are residents of Anand.
Rajdeepsinh Jhala, Deputy Superintendent of Police in charge of Cyber Cell said the accused had colluded with more than 40 Fair Price Shop owners. Some persons from Gurugram, Sohna, Parval, Badshahpur and Mewat in Haryana are also involved in the scam.
“They used to replicate the fingerprints of FPS customers with a rubber like material using a computer application,” Jhala said.
