WASHINGTON, AUG 21
Joe Biden has officially accepted the presidential nomination of the Democratic Party, urging the American voters to come together to overcome a “season of darkness” that has cloaked the US for “much too long”.

Biden, 77, was introduced by a video that went through the former vice president’s life, and career, and highlighted his role as a father, husband and political leader.
Biden’s children, Ashley Biden and Hunter Biden, spoke before their father accepted the nomination.

“We want to tell you what kind of president our dad will be. He will be tough. And honest. Caring and principled. He’ll listen, he’ll be there when you need him. He’ll tell you the truth even when you don’t want to hear it. He”ll never let you down,” they said together.
“He’s been a great father, and we think he will be a great president,” they said.
While accepting the Democratic presidential nomination on Thursday night, Biden said in Delaware that “united we can and will overcome this season of darkness in America.”
“The current president’s cloaked American darkness for much too long,” Biden said in an opening that targeted President US Donald Trump.
“Too much anger, too much fear, too much division. Here and now, I give you my word: If you entrust me with the presidency, I will draw on the best of us, not the worst. I’ll be an ally of the light, not the darkness. It”s time for us — for we the people — to come together,” he said.

Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPI) for Biden applaud Joe Biden’s official nomination to be the next President of the United States:
A release said: “Our AAPI community is excited to elect Joe Biden as the next President of the United States. We know that Joe and Kamala are the leaders our country needs right now to put us on the right track and help us build back better. Their leadership will ensure that communities of color like ours will recover from the triple pandemics of COVID-19, systemic racism, and economic depression.
“Joe Biden knows that the AAPI community is a core chapter of the American story. Our community looks forward to a Biden-Harris administration that will honor the sacrifices of generations before us, and build a better future so that generations after us can realize the American promise. AAPI voters are critical in this election and we will play a decisive role in key states across the country to help elect Joe Biden and Kamala Harris on November 3rd.
Speaking on the occasion, AAPI delegates from across US had the following to say:
Arizona Delegate Elaine Lim said, “Joe Biden is one of the few individuals that can help the U.S. recover ‘face’ on the world stage. And in Arizona we look forward to a strong immigration policy that does not entail building walls through tribal and environmentally sensitive lands.”
New Hampshire Delegate Shanika Amarakoon said, “I’m an immigrant, woman, minority, and mother. Everything I am and what I believe in has been under attack by this Administration. With a Biden/Harris ticket I will once again feel that I belong. That we all do regardless of the color of our skin or whether we were born here or not.”
Wisconsin Delegate Awais Khaleel said, “Muslim Americans overwhelmingly reject President Trump’s bigotry and incompetence. As he plays footsie with white supremacists and mismanages our public health crisis, we are so grateful that Vice President Biden has added Senator Harris to the Democratic ticket. We know her as someone who will fight against the rise in hate crimes against our community over the last four years, support the coronavirus frontline workers among which our community is disproportionately represented, ensure a humane immigration policy and a more just criminal justice system, and represent an America as diverse as most Friday prayers in this great nation. Senator Harris’s thoughtfulness, empathy, and belief in science could not be more welcome.
“I will also add, on a personal note, as a second generation Indian-American, I am so excited to vote for another second generation Indian-American for the first time ever for Vice President. I am so grateful that my one-year old daughter may come of age in an America led by a brilliant woman who looks more like her than any previous inhabitant of the White House” Awais Khaleel added.
