As many as 1,075 new cases of COVID-19 emerged in Gujarat in the last 24 hours, taking the caseload to 2,33,263, the state Health Department said on Friday evening.
Nine patients died during this period taking the death toll due to coronavirus to 4,220, it said.
On the other hand, 1,155 coronavirus patients recovered and were given discharge. It took the number of recovered cases to 2,16,683.
There are 12,360 active cases in the state at present.
Four patients died in Ahmedabad since Thursday evening, three died in Surat, and one each in Rajkot and Vadodara districts.
Ahmedabad district recorded 232 new COVID-19 cases, the highest in the state, followed by 173 in Surat, 149 in Vadodara, 122 in Rajkot, 45 in Gandhinagar, and 33 in Mehsana district.
Gujarat’s recovery rate went up to 92.89 pc on Friday, said the release.
As many as 54,757 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours, taking the test tally to 89.44 lakh.
One person tested positive while six recovered from coronavirus infection in the adjoining Union Territory of Dadra Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu.
Of the total 3,334 persons found positive for coronavirus in the territoryto date, two died, 3,322 have recovered and 10 cases are still active.

Ahmedabad sees 232 cases, tally crosses 55,000 mark
The number of COVID-19 cases in the Ahmedabad district crossed the 55,000 marks to reach 55,150 after 232 people were detected with the infection in the last 24 hours, an official said on Friday.
The addition, which is the highest for any district in Gujarat, comprises 221 from city limits and 11 from the rural parts, he said.
Four deaths, all in the city, took the toll to 2,201, and 223 people, including 214 from the city, recovered and were discharged during this period, he said.
So far, 49,941 people have recovered, he added.
