Tamil Nadu-based differently-abled athletes created a record win at the 18th Senior and 14th Junior National Para Powerlifting Championship 2021 competitions held in Bengaluru recently.
The competition was held at the Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru from March 19 to March 21, 2021.
V Saravanan won the Gold medal in the 59 Kg Senior Division; C Venkatesh Prasad bagged Gold Medal in the 59 KG Junior Division; B. Gomati won the Silver Medal in the 50 kg; R. Kasturi bagged Silver Medal in the 67 kg (First Para Female Powerlifting Champion); Velmurugan won Bronze Medal in the 65 kg Senior Division and M. Krishnamurthy also won 59 kg in Junior Division, says a release.
Office-bearers, including the President of the Tamil Nadu Paraolympic Association Chandrasekhar, General Secretary Anand Jyoti and vice president Kirubakara Raja lauded the achievements of the differently-abled athletes from Tamil Nadu, the release added.
