In a medical miracle and said to be a world record, a 67-year-old corona patient remained in ICU for 120 days – 60 days each in hospital and home, got fresh lease of life in an Ahmedabad hospital.
Gandhidham-based Kishoresinh Jadeja, 67, was given treatment for coronavirus for two days in his hometown and later referred to Radiance Hospital in Ahmedabad to get him cured of complex medical issues, senior critical care specialist Dr Ajay Shah said here on Tuesday.
Speaking to navjeevanexpress.com, Dr Shah said, “Although the old man was rescued from the claws of COVID-19, he was facing may other complications later. He had contracted fibrosis in his lungs and was referred to Radiance Hospital by a senior pulmonologist. During the diagnosis it was found that he was having infections in other organs of the body such as the brain and kidneys. There was also a puncture in the lungs. The body became swollen and the muscles weakened. Fibrosis was placed on the ventilator, so that the lungs could undergo a complete respiratory process to correct the infection in the lungs.”
“After keeping him in the hospital ICU for 60 days, and steady improvement in his health, considering his age the patient was shifted to his son’s home at Prahladnagar in Ahmedabad. A nursing station with ICU facilities was specially set up at his home to continue the treatment for another 60 days. Thanks to the advancement in healthcare and the expert treatment of Dr Shah and his team, he was cured of all complications,” said Dr. Paras Patel, ICU specialist of Radiance Hospital.
Dr. Ankit Thakar and the nursing staff have played a very important contribution in taking care of him.
During this treatment, he also had convulsions or stress for which he was treated by neurologist Dr. Devashi Vishana.
After 120 days, he was brought back to the hospital for further observation and kept for five days. A thorough check was done on him and it was found that the health of the patient was found to be normal in all respects. The old man was discharged on Monday, April 5 and to lead a normal life, which is a world record of sorts in the medical history, the team of doctors said.The patient has shown complete trust in the doctors and praised his treatment.
