Ten20 Infomedia Pvt Ltd, a Hyderabad-based company, has created a product which apparently safeguards the digital identity of mobile users. Called ‘Doosra,’ it is a 10-digit, SIM-free virtual mobile number which users can share at any place where they are compelled to share their personal mobile numbers. It helps to get rid of endless spam calls, messages and it reduces the risks of getting defrauded, the company says.
“Living in the high-speed world is posing a great challenge to many of us. Lifestyle changes and growing dependency on the internet and telecommunications services are leading to some unforeseen consequences and we are really finding it difficult to tackle such serious issues. In every aspect of our day to day life, in some or other form, we are forced to share our personal information especially our mobile numbers, thus end up getting endless spam calls and messages, continuous attempts of scam, phishing, and fraud, non-stop harassment by strangers and constant violation of privacy by brands,” the statement added.
In an effort to safeguard the digital identity of mobile users, Ten20 Infomedia Pvt Ltd, has designed and developed Doosra. A first-of-its-kind solution, Doosra is a 10-digit, SIM-free mobile number, which users can share at any place where they are compelled to share their personal mobile number, including on digital platforms. All incoming calls to the Doosra number are either automatically blocked or sent to voicemail or let through depending on the User’s settings and preferences on the Doosra app.
All the incoming messages are silently placed in the Messages folder on the Doosra app and can be reviewed at leisure. This helps Users to take back control of their digital privacy while safeguarding their identity from spammers and scammers. Incidentally, the Doosra app does not require or ask for any access to the User’s phone’s call logs, phonebook, photo gallery, or any other information stored on the phone like most third party apps.
Aditya Vuchi, Founder and CEO of Doosra, said, “We believe that every platform should take responsibility for their User’s personal and digital safety when transacting with them. However, that promise is repeatedly broken by many platforms which share User’s mobile numbers with agents, telemarketers and brands. This is where Doosra steps in to ensure the digital safety of our users by ensuring their personal mobile number never needs to be exposed to these digital platforms. In fact, we have tied up with Ola, Swiggy, Zomato, Urban Company and Dunzo where the Doosra number can be shared with driver partners and delivery executives while availing these services”.
Doosra offers two subscription packages. There is an Essential pack, which costs Rs 59 per month (Rs 699 billed annually), which offers unlimited voicemails, premium and VIP number options, 100 minutes of call back every month, and the ability to add 10 contacts to the ‘Trusted’ list.
The other is the Pro package, which costs Rs 83 per month (Rs 999 billed annually). In addition to everything the Essential package offers, this also allows multi-user login (up to five devices), lets users turn off the call block indefinitely (instead of the 60 minutes limit on the Essential pack), it supports WhatsApp and Telegram, and has no limit to trusted contacts.
