Governor Banwarilal Purohit has inaugurated a new museum as part of centenary celebrations of the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS).
Purohit, who is also the IRCS president said the museum would have a historical photo gallery and a short film on the Red Cross movement.
Secretary-General of IRCS R.K. Jain said the TN branch is very active. IRCS headquarters in New Delhi had planned to fund 80% of any new initiatives proposed by the branches across the country. The state branches have to bear the remaining 20%. This is being done to encourage the state branches to come up with new initiatives.
The state branches were asked to create assets for themselves. Similarly, they were asked to strengthen blood bank services. “We want the IRCS blood banks to function 24×7,” he said. As part of the centenary celebrations, IRCS will hold a competition on first-aid, painting and essay for school students, Jain added.
A large number of schools, college students from across the city were brought to the Kalaivanar Arangam for the programme.
