The Republic Day Contingent of the NCC Directorate Gujarat, Dadra Nagar Haveli, Daman & Diu, who won the second position in PM’s Rally and overall fourth position in all competitions amongst 17 NCC Directorates as well as two Silver and two Bronze medals in the Best Cadet Competition, were honoured by Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat at Raj Bhavan in Gandhinagar on Friday, a Defence PRO release said.
Governor also unveiled the Annual Cadet Journal and felicitated the cadets for excelling in the Republic Day Camp 2020.
The function was attended by Major General Roy Joseph, Additional Director General, NCC Directorate, Gujarat, NCC Officers, cadets, and their parents.
Speaking on the occasion the Governor complimented Major General Roy Joseph and his team for their selfless commitment in training the cadets in making them good citizens and future leaders. He also appreciated the efforts of the cadets for their selfless service in taking part in Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Blood Donation Camps, and other social activities and thereby setting an example for the youth of the State.
Maj Gen Roy Joseph brought out the achievements of NCC Directorate Gujarat during the last year. He told the gathering that on the occasion of the 150th Birth anniversary of Mahatama Gandhi, NCC Cadets undertook activities like Karmabhoomi to Janmabhoomi Cycle Rally and Motor Cycle Rally and successfully spread the messages of the Mahatma throughout the State. Naval cadets took part in Sea Sailing Expedition from Khambhat to Dandi under adverse conditions which reflect their fearless and adventurous nature. In addition to these activities, the cadets took part in various camps in various states of the country and performed extremely well winning various prizes.
During RDC 2020, the cadets of the Directorate performed extremely well and secured the second position in PM’s Rally and overall fourth position in all competitions amongst 17 NCC Directorates. In the Best Cadet Competition, our Cadets won two Silver and two Bronze medals.
During the colourful ceremony, the cadets also performed a variety of cultural programmes. The function culminated with Samuhik Tea during which the Governor interacted with the cadets.
