Around 30 representatives of different autorickshaw associations in Ahmedabad city visited Lay Witness, the exhibition of national award winner Rajesh Sagara’s curated creations, and thanked him for giving a place of pride to the humble public transport mode in the exhibition.
National award winning sculptor celebrates Ahmedabad’s rich history and heritage with ‘Lay Witness’
Made of black marble, the 4-tonne auto-rickshaw sculpture is among the creations at the exhibition that reflect the intrinsic relationship with Ahmedabad and pay a tribute to its cultural history. Organised by GalleryRa, the exhibition commenced on February 26, the 611th birthday of Ahmedabad.
“The auto rickshaw has been widely acknowledged as an integral part of Ahmedabad’s transit system over the decades, and inclusion of its sculpture in the exhibition was just natural,” said Rajesh Sagara, thanking the auto-rickshaw associations for their visit to the exhibition and their appreciation.
Taking place at the Gujarat University Library lawns, Lay Witness will culminate on March 12. It is open from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
