The Airports Authority of India (AAI) on Thursday announced that it has commissioned the Romeo (R) and November (N) taxiways at Chennai Airport, says a release.

The new R taxiway is parallel to runway 07/25 and new N taxiway is parallel to runway 12/30. Commissioning of these taxiways will increase operational capacity and enhance ease of operations.
The remote apron parking bays on North of runway are better connected and these parking bays can be efficiently used, the release added.
The project consists of construction of 1970m long 25m wide rigid taxiway with 9. 50 m wide flexible shoulders.
Air India AI346 (B787-8) from Delhi was the first aircraft to use the taxiways and was accorded a customary water canon salute on Thursday.
