Ace Software Exports Limited, in collaboration with the nation’s largest newspaper The Times of India (ToI), on Wednesday announced the launch of Gujarat Corporate Cricket League (GCCL) 2024 with 12 teams to promote the spirit of sportsmanship and corporate camaraderie along with cricketing talent in Gujarat.
The maiden tournament will take place between Saturday, December 7; and Sunday, December 15 at the Unicorn Cricket Club, near Manipur village in Ahmedabad, said Amit Mehta, MD & CEO of the company here.
In his inaugural address, Dr Anvaratham spoke at length on the salient features of the maiden tourney.
Out of the 12 teams, 11 belonging to corporates – Grubbrr System Pvt Ltd, Impero IT Services Pvt Ltd, Hidden Brains Infotech, Intech Group, Ethios Enviro Solutions Private Limited, Ecosmob Technologies Pvt Ltd, Virtual Building Studio, Zealmax Innovations Pvt Ltd, Milestone, TCS and Yudiz and one government body – The Salestax Sports and Recreation Club. The teams were named like IPL Teams to give a unique identity to each of them.
As a precursor to the maiden tourney, the dignitaries unveiled the trophy.
“The 12 teams are divided into four groups of three teams each. Each team will play one match against the other teams in their group on December 7, 8 and 14, and the eventual four group winners will qualify for the semifinal stage. The winners of the two semifinals will compete in the final on December15 to decide the ultimate champion. The winning team will receive a prize of Rs 50,000 and the trophy, while the first runners-up will be awarded Rs 20,000. There will also be a gold coin of one gram each for the Man of the Series, the Best Bowler and the Best Batsman in recognition of their remarkable performances,” announced Nikhil Makwana, and Keyush Patel.
In his welcome address, Mihir Jhaveri bowled over all with his inimical style of presentation and hospitality laced with wits and Vibrant Gujarat culture of shaking a leg or two.
All teams accompanied by their HR head, captains and vice captains delivered morale boosting addresses sporting the competitive spirit. They were also handed over the game kits, including the jerseys, by the core team members.
Rekindling the IPL matches, jerseys were unveiled by respective teams amidst pomp and gaiety.
The event anchoring for Ace Softex was conducted by Aditi Banerjee, Mihir Jhaveri, Nikhil Makwana, and Keyush Patel. The choreography for the dance and music performances was handled by Payal Malaviya. Anubhuti Rathod and Himadri Patel presented a soulful Ganesh Vandana, followed by a cricket-themed dance performed by the Ace team. The overall management of the event was efficiently handled by Ganpat Thakor, Arth Patel, and Drashti. Photography was done by Tathya Macwan.
