Additional Secretary (Defence Production) Sanjay Jaju, IAS visited Gandhinagar on Friday for an on-site review of all preparations of the 12th edition of DefExpo-2022 and chaired the “Security and Disaster Management Committee” meeting.

The meeting was held at Mahatma Mandir Convention & Exhibition Centre (MMCEC), Gandhinagar which was attended by all stakeholders, including senior officials from the Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt of Gujarat, HAL, DRDO, Ahmedabad International Airport Limited etc. During the meeting, Additional Secretary (DP) was briefed about the arrangements towards security and disaster management and public movement, being made by stakeholders for the event.
As part of his visit, Sanjay Jaju held a meeting with officials of Gujarat Chamber of Commerce & Industry (GCCI) and advised the Chambers to increase the participation of the Gujarat industries at DefExpo 2022.
During the visit, Sanjay Jaju, AS (DP) called on Pankaj Kumar, IAS, Chief Secretary, Gujarat and briefed him on the preparations and close coordination between MoD and State officers. Sanjay Jaju also called on Rajkumar, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary (Home, Industries & Mines), Gujarat and discussed all issues related to preparations being made by the State in conjunction with MoD. He appreciated the coordination between MoD and Government of Gujarat thus far towards ensuring the smooth conduct of DefExpo-2022.
This edition of the DefExpo is the largest ever & is being planned in a four venue format – exhibition at the Helipad Exhibition Centre (HEC), inaugural/ official functions and seminars at Mahatma Mandir Convention and Exhibition Centre (MMCEC), live demonstrations showcasing the equipment and skill set of the armed forces, DPSUs and industry on all five days at the Sabarmati Riverfront in Ahmedabad and ships visit of Indian Navy and Indian Coast Guard at Porbandar. In addition, drone show at Gandhinagar on October 19 and on October 21 & 22 will be a major highlight during the event.
The 12th edition of DefExpo-2022, India’s flagship Defence exhibition is scheduled at Gandhinagar, Gujarat from 18-22 October 2022 and is anticipated to be the largest ever. The event will be the first-ever edition exclusively for Indian companies and will showcase India’s Defence manufacturing capabilities to the world. The first three Business days will be followed by public days on 21-22 October 2022.
