R ARIVANANTHAM
After two years, leading Kollywood star Arun Vijay has come back with a wholesome mass entertainer – Yaanai, which hit the screens across the globe on Friday.
As expected Director Hari gave another action-packed drama with emotion and family sentiments. Director Hari has consciously reduced the fast paced scenes by giving more time for the audience to mingle with the characters of the drama.
Arun Vijay does complete justice to the role and gets to flex his muscles in the action blocks.
The single shot action sequence in the first half is one of the major highlights of the film.
Priya Bhavani Shankar gets a meaty role and has grabbed it with both hands. However, she has to pay more attention to improve her acting skills.
Samuthiram (Jayabalan) and his son, Lingam, want to avenge PRV’s (Rajesh) family for the death of Lingam’s twin brother (Pandi).
Ravichandran (Arun Vijay) tries to protect his family at all costs despite his half-brothers disliking him.
Meanwhile, Arun Vijay’s half-brother Samuthirakani’s daughter Ammu Abirami elopes with a Muslim boy.
Samuthirakani blames Arun Vijay for this and send him out of the house.
Samuthirakani plans to kill Ammu Abiraami. Jayabalan tries to take advantage of this situation.
Ramachandran’s (Samuthirakani) hunger for caste pride is deftly depicted in this narrative thread, which forms the rest of the film’s plot.
Arun Vijay, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Samuthirakani, Yogi Babu, Ammu Abhirami, KGF Ramachandra Raju, Radhika Sarathkumar have done their part well. But Yogi Babu’s jokes were not a hit in many scenes.
GV Prakash’s BGM is electrifying.
