Yoodlee Film’s Axone which has been loved by the critics and audience alike after it was screened at Mumbai Film Festival ( MAMI) is now set for viewing in Austin, says a company source.
Axone has already made headlines for its simple storyline which is comic and yet bittersweet. The movie is about a group of friends who decide to prepare an authentic North-Eastern delicacy known as Axone (Akhuni). However, in the course of the preparation, the friends forget to take into account the pungent smell the dish emits which is a huge problem given the restrictive neighbourhood the friends live in.
Indie Meme, an NGO is responsible for showing Axone in Austin. This NGO aims to bring movies that influence, bring cultural, social change. The movie was also showcased at the BFI London Film Festival and ran houseful shows.
Axone stars Sayani Gupta, Lin Laishram, Vinay Pathak, Dolly Ahluwalia, and Tenzin Dalha.
When asked about this film, Siddharth Anand Kumar VP Television and Films Saregama India and Head of Yoodlee Films’ said, “It is a privilege to be able to make films like Axone which highlights the issue of racism in a humorous manner. Laughing at our problems is a way to acknowledge and eventually resolve them. At Yoodlee we strive to make films that leave a lasting impression on the minds of the audiences”
Axone is also the third film in three consecutive years from the Yoodlee stable to be selected in MAMI, the previous two being Ajji (2017) and Hamid (2018). Hamid has won two National Awards as well.
Yoodlee Films have been leaving their mark with out-of-the-box content, putting the focus on important and socially relevant issues. Some of their movies are KD, Nobelmen, and Habaddi.
