Agents who were engaged to sell money-doubling scheme kidnapped their boss after he allegedly denied the promised commission and released him later.
According to police, Saravanan, 45, a resident of Kolathur, had hired Simon of Ambattur, Rajesh of Mangadu and Venkatesan of Nandanam as agents for money-doubling scheme. He had promised to pay them six months’ commission in January 2020, but failed to keep his words saying the agents did not work properly.
Irked over this, Rajesh and Venkatesan hatched a plan to kidnap Saravanan. Police said the agents told them that Saravanan owed them Rs 50 lakh.
On January 30, the two called Saravanan for a meeting at Poompozhil park in Avadi. While he was waiting, a four member gang kidnapped him and took him to an abandoned house in Royapuram.
Police said Rajesh, Venkatesan and a four-member gang led by a man named Ramu beat up Saravanan and threatened him. After Saravanan promised to pay them, he was let off.
Based on a complaint lodged by Saravanan with the Avadi Tank Factory police station, Rajesh and Venkatesan were arrested for kidnapping, threatening and attempt to murder. Hunt is on for the henchmen.
The arrested agents were produced before a magistrate, and were remanded in judicial custody.
