AHMEDABAD, DECEMBER 7
Seniormost IAS officer and additional chief secretary, finance, Arvind Agrawal, a 1984-batch officer, has been transferred and appointed chairman and managing director of Gujarat State Fertilisers and Chemical Limited (GSFC).
A notification issued by the general administration department on Friday said Agrawal will continue as GSFC CMD for one year from the date of assuming charge, or until further orders.
The state government, meanwhile, did not name his successor in the finance department, leading to widespread speculation about this key government department.

There have been instances in the past, where officers have superseded others in becoming chief secretary. In these cases as well, the officers superseded, were transferred to positions outside the secretariat, mainly to head companies owned by the state government.
