Walmart on Thursday announced the company is expanding sourcing from India with food and snack products from popular Indian brands, bringing a diverse range of suppliers, including Britannia, Bikano, VAHDAM, Jayanti Spices and HyFun, amongst others, to the US market ahead of Diwali. Together, they will supply a diverse range of well-loved snacks and food products to Walmart’s U.S. customers. The product lineup caters to Diwali celebrations as well as additional staples often found in American pantries. Offerings include premium tea, ready-to-eat and frozen foods, traditional snacks, spices, and festive packs.

HyFun Foods, a Gujarat-based frozen, ready-to-cook snacks producers and exporters have been hand-picked by Walmart for supplying its quality products in the US.

Products by Britannia and Bikano will be available this Diwali, while brands such as Regal Kitchen and VAHDAM are already available to the Walmart U.S. customer. Jayanti Spices and Hyfun Foods currently have products under Walmart’s Great Value brand.

“Walmart is committed to providing our customers with a wide variety of unique and diverse product offerings,” said Andrea Albright, Executive Vice President, Sourcing at Walmart. “As part of our goal to increase exports from India to $10 billion per year by 2027, we’re excited to bring a taste of India’s rich culture and traditions to our customers in the U.S during the holiday season and beyond.

Diwali offerings

Britannia Industries, a renowned Indian food brand, is set to delight American consumers with its beloved biscuits. Walmart stores will offer iconic products such as Bourbon chocolate cream-filled biscuits, Good Day cookies (in Butter, Cashew, and Pistachio-Almond flavors), and classic Milk Rusk during Diwali. Britannia will also provide family packs in select U.S. stores.

Bikano, a well-loved Indian snack brand, will introduce two festive packs, Abhinandan and Shahi Nazrana, to select Walmart U.S. stores this Diwali. These curated collections feature traditional Indian savories, mixtures, and sweets such as Soan Papdi and Gulab Jamun.

Pantry and other offerings

Jayanti Spices, a Coimbatore-based supplier, has successfully expanded into the U.S. market under Walmart’s Great Value private label. Jayanti Spices offers a variety of flavorful spices and herbs,  including onion powder, garlic powder, cinnamon powder, crushed red pepper, parsley flakes, black pepper, and cinnamon sticks, bringing spices grown in India to U.S. consumers.

VAHDAM, a premium brand specializing in tea, spices and herbs is already a favorite at Walmart. The brand offers a wide range of spices and powders, including cumin, clove, cinnamon, turmeric, ginger, garlic, onion, amla, and ashwagandha along with tea products like Turmeric Ashwagandha, Turmeric Ginger, and Turmeric Citrus Ginger and Tumeric Tea variety pack in Walmart stores.

HyFun, a Gujarat-based frozen foods brand and first-time exporter to the U.S. market, will also be available under the Great Value brand, offering products such as tater tots and seasoned hash browns at a great price.

Regal Kitchen’s Reganic Brand will introduce its ready-to-eat Cilantro and Lime cooked rice, bursting with Indian flavors, available at Sam’s Club in the U.S.

Products from other sellers and brands, such as AB World Foods, Kitchens of India, Pride of India, Rani Brand Authentic Indian Foods, The Cumin Club, and Tasty Bite, will also be available on Walmart.com.

In addition to forming new supplier relationships, Walmart is strengthening its collaboration with Bectors Food Specialties Ltd to ensure the continued availability of its popular Danish Butter Cookies in its U.S. stores.  The cookies were sold during last year’s holiday season and will be back by popular demand.

As Walmart expands the assortment of products it sources from India, food is a priority category, driven by growing demand and consumer interest in the U.S. and globally. Serving more than 255 million customers and members around the world every week, Walmart sources from a variety of geographies to provide customers access to products they want and need any given time.
