GOWRI MANICKAVASAGAM

Gujarat’s son-in-law or jamai Akshay Kumar is now gearing up for his third release of the year, Raksha Bandhan, a film with very good social message. It talks of familial bonding. It packs in loads of Hindustani sentiments with very soulful songs.

While sharing his childhood celebration of Raksha Bandhan, the star turns nostalgic and says, “Since childhood, my parents have taught me that my sister is not just my sister but a goddess (Devi). So, for me, she is a Devi.”

“My bond with my sister has been that of love. My sister is not at all scared of me and she`s a very cool-natured person who does not fight at all. There has never been any quarrel among us, even if my temper rises sometimes, she still remains calm,” adds Bollywood Superstar.

Further, he says, “My wife is a Gujarati. So I have special bond with Gujaratis and their rich culture. This film ‘Raksha Bandhan’ explores the love, bonding and attachment between brother and sisters. And I would love to act in ‘clean’ movies.”

To a query on his film preference, he says, “I want to try my hand at many entertainment genres. No kind of image is what I want to create. But I make sure that the movies I make have to be family-friendly. I’m not interested in producing filthy movies.”

With less than a week left for the release of Aanand L Rai’s highly anticipated movie ‘Raksha Bandhan’, the movie cast, including Akshay Kumar and his co-stars, are leaving no stone unturned to promote their film in different cities of the country. Akshay, Aanand L Rai and the cast jetted off to Ahmedabad for promotions.

Continuing his sweet gesture of gifting something special to his on-screen sisters from each city he visits during movie promotions, this time as the team is in Ahmedabad, Akshay took the sisters for Bandhani shopping, much to their surprise and gifted them Ahmedabad’s traditional Bandhani.

Directed by Aanand L Rai, produced by Aanand L Rai and Himanshu Sharma in association with Zee Studios, Alka Hiranandani and Cape of Good Films, written by Himanshu Sharma & Kanika Dhillon, the music of ‘Raksha Bandhan’ has been composed by Himesh Reshammiya and lyrics are by Irshad Kamil.

Bhumi Pednekar will play the lead actor’s love interest.

Raksha Bandhan featuring Neeraj Sood, Seema Pahwa, Sadia Khateeb, Abhilash Thapliyal, Deepika Khanna, Smrithi Srikanth and Sahejmeen Kaur is all set to release on 11th August 2022.
