WELTT, a city-based charity, has been distributing blankets to the destitute for the last four years to protect them from severe cold. This year too, the “Blankets to the Un-blanketed” initiative was supported by scores of their WELTT patrons who personally visited the needy during nights.
Talking to navjeevanexpress.com, one of the organizers of WELTT said, “In these bone-chilling cold December nights when most of us are wrapped in warm clothes, there are a few underprivileged and homeless sleeping on the city streets. All these people have at their disposal to protect themselves against the freezing cold is either a plastic sheet, tattered blanket, or a jute sack. Known for spending big money, city residents and communities are avid philanthropists too. They frequently give away blankets, shawls, and other warm clothes to the needy. WELTT is one such community that has been distributing blankets to the destitute for the last four years.”
Envisioned to empower educators and learners through English language training and advocacy, WELTT under its outreach programme carries out similar activities throughout the year impacting various strata of the society. These include distributing food, books, and other learning materials to children living in the slum and conducting employability workshops for unemployed and disadvantaged youth.
