Ahmedabad Branch of the WIRC of ICAI laid the foundation stone for New Iconic ICAI Bhavan in Chanakyapuri area on SG Highway here on Friday.

The foundation stone was laid by CA (Dr.) Debashis Mitra, National President of ICAI; Aniket Talati, Vice President; Infrastructure Committee Chairperson of the new building and Central Council Member CA Purushottam Khandelwal, and ICAI Ahmedabad Branch Chairperson CA Bishan Shah.
Speaking at the auspicious function, CA (Dr.) Debashis Mitra, National President of ICAI, said, “It is a great pleasure to participate in the foundation laying ceremony of the new building of ICAI in Ahmedabad. It is highly commendable that ICAI is going to become an iconic building in Ahmedabad in keeping with the time. Among the total 167 branches of ICAI, Ahmedabad branch stands second. There are a total of 3,75,000 CAs in the country out of which 29 percent are women and now we have more than eight lakh students. Ahmedabad branch has a total of 14,000 members.”
Infrastructure Committee Chairperson of the new building and Central Council Member CA Purushottam Khandelwal said, “The new building under construction at Chanyakyapuri will be the iconic CA Bhavan. A total of 1,50,000 square feet will be constructed on 5,000 war area. It will provide continuous knowledge updates through education, training and research. The building will become a research center, in which practice case studies will be prepared, and this will prove extremely useful to commerce and management students of the world. ICAI Ahmedabad Bhawan is known for preparing professional CAs to use Artificial Intelligence, Block Chain Technology, Cyber Security and Data Analytics.”
“The ICAI Bhavan will have a seminar hall with a seating capacity of 500 members. The building will be constructed using environmentally friendly materials and technology, including solar power and water harvesting, to become Green Building. ICAI Bhawan will be built at a total cost of Rs 48 crores. We are planning to complete construction by the end of this year. The iconic ICAI Bhavan will have a total of 10 classrooms, in which 645 students can study. 3 IT labs to accommodate 165 students will be created. While 100 students will be able to sit and read their syllabus in the world-class advanced e-library and reading room,” Khandelwal added.
Elaborating on this new building, ICAI Ahmedabad Branch Chairperson CA Bishan Shah, said, “The new iconic building of ICAI Ahmedabad Branch will be a catalyst for the socio-economic uplift of the state. It is our main goal to provide all the latest technology in this building that any student at ICAI can get excellent education by paying nominal fees. This new building will resolve the problems being faced by the students with excellent facilities. Further, it will accommodate three times the present strength of students so as to impart world-class education.”
All office-bearers of the Ahmedabad branch, including RCM CA Chintan Patel, Hitesh Pomal, Vice Chairperson CA (Dr.) Anjali Choksi, Secretary CA Nirav Aggarwal, Treasurer CA Sameer Chaudhary, CA Sunil Sanghvi, CA Abhinav Malviya were present at the event.
