Speaking with the media, CS Manish Gupta, President, of ICSI said, “We have formed an infrastructure Panel to hunt a suitable land for constructing a new building to expand our Ahmedabad Chapter’s educational activities in Gujarat. This panel is negotiating with the state government in this regard and we are hopeful of its fructification soon.”

CS Manish Gupta also announced that the ICSI has signed two MoUs on Friday – one with the Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT) Gandhinagar and the other with Gujarat National Law University (GNLU) Gandhinagar.

The first Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between CS Manish Gupta, President , The Institute of Company Secretaries of India and Tapan Ray, MD & Group CEO, Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT), Gandhinagar.  Under this  MoU, about 80 CSs will get adequate opportunities to get capacity building by offering their services to the MNCs and the domestic companies functioning from GIFTCity in complying with global business laws. We have also pursued our talks with IFSCA Chairman K Rajaraman to make mutual endeavors to collaborate and mutually work in good faith to meet areas of cooperation.

The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) has signed the second Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Gujarat National Law University (GNLU) Gandhinagar  under the “ICSI Academic Connect” initiative.

The objective of the MoU is to bring together the efforts of the two institutions for imparting knowledge and honing the skills of students, academicians and professionals of both the institutions,  CS Manish Gupta added.

From ICSI side, the signatory of the MoU was CS Manish Gupta, President whereas from GNLU side, the signatory was Dr Jagadeesh Chandra TG, Registrar (I/C).

Speaking on the benefits of this MoU, CS Manish Gupta said, “The Institute introduced the ICSI Academic Connect to collaborate with various IIMs, National Law University, and Institutions of national repute to impart knowledge and acuminate skills of students, academicians, and professionals. Toppers of specific programmes of these Universities/ Institutes will be awarded ICSI Signature Award Gold Medal and a scholarship to pursue the Company Secretary Course. The MoU would facilitate a comprehensive partnership in the areas of joint academic research, joint workshops, professional development & faculty development programmes along with sharing of resources and participation in conferences, workshops, and seminars.”

Gupta said with its vision to be a global leader in promoting good corporate governance and its mission to develop high calibre professionals facilitating good governance, the institute has set its foot in the international arena by setting up ICSI Overseas Centres in UAE, USA, UK, Singapore, Australia and Canada. These Centres would augment professional opportunities for ICSI members and facilitate practical training for students, besides assisting ICSI in conducting its examinations in these countries.

Free courses for agniveers, defence personnel

CS Manish Gupta also added that as part of ICSI’s socio-welfare measures, we had talks with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and explained our academic and training offerings. “We are running nearly 40 specialised courses. We are planning to give the admissions at free of cost for both the Agniveers and defence personnel. This initiative does not only help hone the skills and improve the academic credentials of Agniveers, but also help them resettle and find corporate jobs after their relieving,” CS Manish Gupta said.

New Syllabus adopts NEP

The ICSI released its New Syllabus 2022 at the 50th National Convention of Company Secretaries. The New Syllabus in alignment with the Centre’s New Educational Programme (NEP) focuses on the core areas of the Company Secretary Profession and supplements it by laying emphasis on ancillary, legal, managerial, and other technical skills. This has been introduced in February 2023 and August 2023, respectively, in various programmes, CS Manish Gupta added.

Concession in fees for students who lost their parents

To support students, who lost their parents/legal guardian/adoptive parents due to any reason and to help them continue their education, the Institute has decided to grant a one-time concession in fees while registering for the CS Executive Programme.

Shaheed Ki Beti Certificate

Under this unique initiative, ICSI presents certificates to the dignitaries /guests/ faculty members with a certificate of an amount, and an equivalent amount is donated to a girl child of the martyrs to financially support her higher education or for any other purpose.

ICSI Students Education Fund Trust

The Institute has created ICSI Students Education Fund Trust to encourage and motivate academically bright but economically backward students to pursue CS Course thus contributing to the objectives of nation-building and social responsibility.
