The two culprits allegedly involved in the sensational gang-rape incident in Navlakhi area under Raopura police station in Vadodara city were nabbed by the crime branch police in Ahmedabad on Sunday.
A teenage girl aged about 16 was allegedly gang- raped on the night of November 28 in a secluded place in Navlakhi area in Vadodara. It was told that the girl had gone with a youth whom the culprits had beaten and took away the girl into a mango orchard behind Lamxi Vilas Palace.
On the basis of complaint, Raopura police have registered cases under sections 376, 377, 363, 325 of IPC and sections 5 (g, h, I, j, k and l), 6 and 17 of POCSO Act.
On the basis of a strong instructions from the Chief Minister Vijjay Rupani, the City police have formed many special teams to nab the culprits. On the basis of tip off, police rounded up the culprits in Tarsali area in Vadodara. Earlier, the police have released the portraits of culprits and announced a reward of Rs. 1 lakh for their head.
Speaking to reporters, Special Police Commissioner Ajay Tomar said that the accused were identified as Kishan K. Mathasuria (28) who was residing on a platform on Gangasagar road near Gurudwara in Tarsali and Jasho V. Solanki (21) a resident of a slum near Tarsali. Both the accused have confessed their crime. Inquiry reveals that the two accused have previous crime records on their head, Tomar added.
He said further investigations are under progress.
