After dedicating the world’s largest cricket stadium named after Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Motera in Ahmedabad, the city is gearing up to promote all other sports, including tennis, badminton, etc, said senior officials of a tennis event here on Tuesday.
Speaking with navjeevanexpress.com, Mathan Patel, and Ritesh Goenka, Directors of Tennis For Life (TFL) said, “We, at TFL – Tennis For Life, are a group of tennis players who love this game to the bone. The concept of TFL is to have the 35+ age group players create a whole new competitive, fair and fun-filled environment regularly where the love affair with tennis continues for all of us till the end of time. With this in mind, a group of friends got together and started to explore the journey of TFL.”
Sharing their thoughts on starting this initiative, the duo said, “While the TFL or we are not a finished product yet, we are full of passion, love, and enthusiasm for the game. As successful people in our personal lives and committed to the growth of tennis in the city, we are launching this – By the Players and For the players- TFL 1.0 league of extraordinary dynamics for players to express their love and exuberance for the game. Of course, we stand in acknowledgment of all the coaches who have contributed to our journey of Tennis.”
In this TFL 1.0, we have 18 teams participating from all parts of Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar. Each team consists of 8 players and they will compete on weekends from March 12th to March 28 at three different venues in Ahmedabad. The core intention is to promote the love for the game, fitness, and positivity, not just for us, but for future generations.
In this all-male 35 Plus only game, the format will be eight players per team with three doubles per tie and the matches will be played day and night on hard synthetic courts with world-class facilities.
Talking about their plans, they said, “We are also looking at promoting other sports in the future like badminton, in the same manner, “By the Players, For the Players”.
