Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation (GMRC) Limited on Friday announced that metro rail services in Ahmedabad, which had been suspended from March 22, is set to resume operations on Monday, September 7.
According to a statement from Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation (GMRC) Limited, the train services will be initially operational on Monday and Tuesday, September 7 and 8, respectively. One service in the morning at 11:00 hours and one in the evening at 16:25 hours will be started. Restricted services on the first two days are to examine that all the systems related to COVID prevention are functioning properly, to observe the passengers’ adherence to COVID rules & masks & social distance norms and to take necessary corrective action.
From Wednesday to Saturday, September 9 to 12 services will be available from 11:00 hours to 17:00 hours.
To facilitate the students appearing for the NEET exam and parents, metro services will be operational on Sunday, September 13 from 7:00 hours to 19:00 hours. This facility has been made following the representations received in the Ministry of Home.
Commencing Monday, September 14, the metro services will function from 11:00 hours to 17:10 hours as in Pre-COVID times.
Apart from the disinfection of trains and stations, crowd control staff are to be deployed to ensure social distancing.
Symptomatic passengers or those who are found to have a high temperature during the thermal scanning will not be allowed to board.
Passengers must also adhere to the social distancing markers placed in all waiting areas, adherence to social distancing may also be monitored through surveillance cameras.
Passenger found without mask/face cover shall be penalized as per the government guidelines. The foot-operated sanitizer will available for all passengers at the stations. The sanitized token will be provided to passengers.
The passenger contact area on the train will be sanitized after every trip. Social distancing shall be ensured through marking on the alternate seat to indicate that people should not sit next to each other. One meter gap marking has been made for passenger queue at all ticket counter windows and at the platform level.
Further, passengers are ‘encouraged’ to use the Aarogya Setu application at the time of entry to stations.
