The annual state-level dog show organised by Bow-Wow, a group of dog lovers, will commence at Krishna Farm, Sindhu Bhavan Road here on Sunday. Around 150 dogs of 25 different breeds are likely to take part in the show, show organizer Joy Thakkar said on Tuesday.
The dog fashion show will commence at 8 am and the dog show, training and games at 1 pm. The event will see participation of some of the best dogs and handlers from different parts of the state, including Vadodara, Rajkot, Surat and other cities to compete for top honours, Rajesh Raghavan, breeder and one of the organizers, said.
Besides, Indi dogs will also be participating in this fashion show, which is happening for the first time in Ahmedabad. This event will include dissemination of information on adoption, behavior, breeding, training and issues related to their health by experts and veterinarians – , organizer Joy Thakkar (Behaviorist), juries Rajesh Raghavan and Kodeeswaran and Seju Brahmabhatt (Business Entrepreneur & Dog Lover) and Dr. Govind Patel & Dr. Alap Pawar and Shruti Shashin Patel.
To a query on exclusive walk way for dogs in public gardens, Kodeeswaran, dog trainer said, “Dogs need their own space to play around like children. A plea for separate walk way for dogs in public garden is appreciable but not feasible. They can be taken out for walking in and around the owner’s home. The owners have to ensure that their pets do not soil the public places and there is no law in our country to enforce this good habit. One should adopt pet dogs if and only he can spend quality time with them.”
Elaborating on this event, Joy Thakkar and Seju Brahmabhatt said, “We are dog lovers and we work for street dogs’ safety and happiness. Every year we adopt dogs. Our goal is to create a healthy and happy environment for dogs and their lover. We also want to promote dog adoption and dog care seminars through this programme. “
