AHMEDABAD, OCTOBER 13

Can an ancient scripture illuminate the moral dilemmas of the modern world? What does the Bhavishya Malika tradition teach about the decline of Dharma, the divine mission of Lord Kalki and the spiritual hope associated with Satya Yuga? Ahmedabad is set to host a weeklong spiritual exploration of these profound questions as the first-ever Sri Kalki Katha and Srimad Bhagavata Mahapurana Mahotsav in Gujarat brings together scriptural wisdom, devotional fervour and the timeless quest for righteous living.

The sacred precincts of Sri Kalkidham Prernapeeth will reverberate with the chanting of divine names and the resonance of spiritual discourse from Wednesday, October 14, to Tuesday, October 20, 2026. The daily sessions will be held from 3 pm to 6 pm at Kalki Sangam Hall, offering devotees a seven-day opportunity to immerse themselves in the spiritual traditions associated with Lord Kalki, revered in Hindu belief as the tenth incarnation of Lord Sri Mahavishnu.

Far more than a conventional religious recital, the Sri Kalki Katha and Srimad Bhagavata Mahapurana seeks to bring ancient scriptural narratives into conversation with contemporary concerns about human values, ethical conduct, social upheaval and the preservation of Dharma.

The discourses will be delivered by Param Pujya Pandit Dr. Kashinath Mishra, an eminent researcher and exponent of Jagannath culture and the Bhavishya Malika Purana. Associated with the 600-year-old Panchasakha saint tradition of Odisha, he is known for interpreting the esoteric verses and prophetic allegories of the Bhavishya Malika tradition and explaining their spiritual significance to audiences across linguistic and cultural boundaries. He has also received an honorary doctorate for his research in Jagannath culture and the Bhavishya Malika.

Ancient wisdom, contemporary questions

The Bhavishya Malika tradition, associated with Mahapurusha Achyutananda Das and the Panchasakha saints of Odisha, explores themes including the decline of righteousness, the erosion of human values, conflict, natural calamities, global uncertainty and the advent of the Kalki incarnation. Its spiritual vision also encompasses the transition from Kali Yuga to Satya Yuga, understood in Hindu cosmology as the movement from an age of moral decline towards an age of truth and righteousness.

Against the backdrop of today’s uncertainties, the Katha will examine how these traditional narratives are understood within the broader framework of Hindu spiritual thought. Rather than presenting prophetic interpretations as established facts about future events, the discourse will invite devotees to reflect on their ethical and spiritual significance.

What does the scriptural tradition teach about remaining steadfast when the world appears unsettled? How can individuals preserve compassion, truthfulness and inner discipline amid the pressures of modern life? And what role can devotion play in nurturing peace within families and communities?

These questions provide a compelling spiritual framework for the weeklong Mahotsav.

Lord Kalki and the eternal call of Dharma

A central theme will be the spiritual relationship between Lord Jagannath and the Kalki incarnation, alongside the scriptural narratives surrounding the end of Kali Yuga and the anticipated advent of Satya Yuga.

The sessions will also highlight the enduring practices of Naam Smaran (remembrance and chanting of the divine name), Trikal Sandhya (observance of prayer at three prescribed times of the day), Srimad Bhagavata recitation, moral discipline and righteous living.

At the heart of the exposition is a message of devotion rather than fear: that spiritual awareness, faith, self-discipline and adherence to Dharma can help people navigate uncertainty while remaining grounded in enduring values.

For devotees, the gathering offers an opportunity to deepen their understanding of sacred literature, reconnect with India’s rich spiritual heritage and reflect on the responsibilities of righteous living in everyday life.

A week of faith, fellowship and spiritual discovery

Organised by Sri Kalkidham Prernapeeth and the Vishwa Sanatan Dharma Seva Trust, the Mahotsav extends an invitation to devotees, saints, scholars, young people and followers of Sanatan Dharma from across Gujarat and beyond.

The seven-day programme is expected to provide a shared space for devotional participation, scriptural reflection and the celebration of a spiritual tradition that continues to inspire inquiry into humanity’s moral and spiritual future.

The organisers invite devotees to participate in this special Katha and experience its message of faith, devotion and the preservation of Dharma.
