The family members of Wing Commander Rajendra Kumar Sharda donated his body to a medical college in Jaipur on Thursday. Thus they fulfilled the last wish of Veteran Air Force Officer, says Lt Col Amitabh Sharma, PRO Defence, Rajasthan.

Aparna Gupta, daughter of Wing Commander Late RK Sharda informed that the veteran officer desired that his body should not be cremated and reduced to ashes, but be donated for maximum benefit of mankind post his demise.
The mortal remains of Wing Commander Rajendra Kumar Sharda was donated to SMS Medical College in Jaipur as a precedent for others, Aparna added.
Wing Commander Sharda passed away at the age of 82. He was a part of the first batch of Flight Engineers in Indian Air Force and served on Packet aircraft and IL-76. While on ground he was Senior Engineer and Chief Technical Officer at various stations, including Comm Squadron that was responsible for all VIP aircraft. He also did 5 years of flying as an engineer very early in career, then went back to it after becoming Wing Commander. The Veteran Officer served in both 1965 and 1971 wars, the release added.
