AHMEDABAD, MAY 1
Air Marshal Sandeep Singh took over as Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief (AOC-in-C), South Western Air Command (SWAC) at Gandhinagar on Saturday. He succeeds Air Mshl SK Ghotia, who retired on Friday, says a Defence release.
On taking over Command, the Air Marshal placed a wreath on the War Memorial and was presented with an impressive Guard of Honour at HQ SWAC, Gandhinagar.
The Air Marshal was commissioned in the Fighter Stream on December 22, 1983. He is an alumni of the National Defence Academy and the National Defence College. He is an Experimental Test Pilot and a Cat A Qualified Flying Instructor. The Air Marshal has a rich and diverse experience in operational and experimental test flying on various types of fighter aircraft. He was a key player in the induction of Su-30 MKI aircraft in the Indian Air Force.
He was the Deputy Chief of the Air Staff (DCAS) prior to his present assignment. For his distinguished service, he was awarded the Vayu Sena Medal in 2006 and ‘Ati Vishisht Seva Medal’ in 2013. The Air Marshal is married to Kamini Singh, the release added.
