The Naval Wing NCC Contingent of NCC Directorate (Tamilnadu, Puducherry & Andaman Nicobar) was given a rousing welcome here on Friday for winning five gold medals, two silver medals and a bronze medal in the All India Nau Sainik Camp held recently at Visakhapatnam. The Directorate came as runners up in the overall trophy.
Minister for Youth Welfare and Sports Development of Tamilnadu Siva V Meyyanathan personally honoured the medal winners and encouraged the team to perform better. Deputy Director General of the Directorate, Commodore Atul Kumar Rastogi congratulated the team for their outstanding performance.

In all 24 boys and 14 girls from the Senior Division, represented the Directorate in the competition held from October 2 to 12. This annual event is conducted under the aegis of Directorate General NCC, New Delhi, to assess training standards achieved by Naval Wing NCC units, across the country.
Competitions held for Boat Pulling, Boat Rigging, Navy specific Subjects, Drill, Ship-modelling (both Static and working), Firing, Semaphore, Health & Hygiene, Seamanship Practical & Line Area competition for 17 NCC Directorates from all over India. Cadets of the contingent bagged a trophy for first position in Health & Hygiene, Four Gold medals for Best in Health & Hygiene, Three medals (Gold, Silver & Bronze) in Firing (Boys category) and Bronze medal in Boat Pulling (Boys category). In addition, the contingent was also adjudged the Overall Best Directorate (Runners Up).
