HAZIRA-SURAT, MAR 11
To mark the International Women’s Day, the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) team of ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India) has organised a sports day on Friday.
A release from AM/NS India said, aiming to create awareness on well-being of women, sport events were organized at Suvali Beach in Hazira in association with the Sports Authority of Gujarat and District Sport Office in Surat.
Over 400 women from Hazira and surrounding villages of Mora, Junagam, Vaswa, Rajgiri, Bhatlai, and Damka participated in sport events.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Saroj Kumari participated as chief guest and inaugurated the sports meet.
Padma Shri Awardee Ramilaben Gamit, District Senior Sports Coach Chetan Patel, sarpanches of nearby villages, and top officials of AM/NS India graced the inaugural ceremony. Best performers were awarded prizes and mementoes.
“A healthy woman means a healthy family and healthy families mean a healthy society. Women’s health is critical but somehow most women tend to ignore their own health while caring for their families. The sports meet was organised to give the women from Hazira and surrounding villages a chance to pause and think about their own health. I am confident that the sports meet will lead to greater health awareness among women and encourage them to focus on their health,” said Dr. Vikas Yadvendu, Head-CSR at AM/NS India.
