The Academy for Skill Development, an initiative of ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India) has signed a strategic MoU with Kaushalya – The Skill University, set up by the Government of Gujarat, for offering courses related to steel technology, says a release on Tuesday..
The MoU was signed in Gandhinagar by Lakshman Iyer, Executive Committee member of Academy for Skill Development, and HR Suthar (IAS), Registrar, Kaushalya – The Skill University, in the presence of Anju Sharma (IAS), Principal Secretary, Labour, Skill Development & Employment Department and Director General of the University.
In collaboration with the University, the Academy for Skill Development will run the bachelor’s degree course in Steel Technology, and a two-year post-diploma in Steel technology. The Academy, which is primarily engaged in the training, development, and upskilling of diploma engineers, will train more than 60 youths per year.
The Academy will provide all the theoretical and practical training facilities to the candidates, deploy in-house experienced professionals as faculty for imparting the training, provide necessary resources for the functioning of the institute, arrange for on-the-job training, and support in placing the candidates.
“AM/NS India is committed to ensuring the availability of a skilled workforce for the industry. The MoU with Kaushalya – The Skill University is aimed at providing holistic learning in steel technology through a mix of academic and practical training at our state-of-the-art facility,” said Anil Matoo, Head, Human Resources, Industrial Relations & Administration, AM/NS India.
Anju Sharma spoke about various courses that would be offered and said the Skill University would accelerate skill development aligned to industry demands and institutionalise robust frameworks for teaching, training and research to meet the dynamic demands of industry and aspirations of the youth.
