The Ahmedabad Medical Association (AMA) and Ahmedabad Family Physicians Association (AFPA) on Wednesday announced that the 12th edition of week-long ‘Doctor on Call during Diwali’, a free healthcare service, in Ahmedabad has helped nearly 600 persons.
According to Ahmedabad Medical Association president Dr Dilip Gadhavi, “This year we have received about 550-600 calls during the Diwali holidays. We have received call from ahmedabad and many other parts of the state also. We have received calls even at midnight.
Out of the calls received maximum calls were for seasonal viral illness, others were for chikunguyna, minor burns and injuries.”

Ahmedabad Family Physicians Association president Dr Direndra Sanandiya said, “A good number of calls were received for skin problems like allergy etc. There were some calls from anxious parents when their children fall ill in time of festival. A few of pregnant women also called our gynecologists for minor ailments like fever, cough etc. Fortunately, there was no major aliment report during this festive season and we hope everyone had safe Diwali.”
“We would like to urge all, please be remaining vigilant for COVID and follow COVID appropriate behaviour,” said AMA honorary general secretary Gargi Patel and AFPA honorary secretary Dr Pragnesh Vachharajani.
