NE BUSINESS BUREAU
AHMEDABAD, NOV 3

Ambuja Cements Ltd, part of the diversified Adani Portfolio and the world’s ninth-largest building materials company, has reported a stellar second-quarter performance for FY26, delivering its highest-ever quarterly revenue, profit, and sales volume in a Q2 series.

The company’s Profit After Tax (PAT) jumped 364% YoY to ₹2,302 crore, driven by operational excellence, strong cost control, and higher realisations. Revenue from operations rose 21% YoY to ₹9,174 crore, while EBITDA surged 58% to ₹1,761 crore, translating to a margin of 19.2%, up 4.5 percentage points YoY.

Earnings Per Share (EPS) stood at ₹7.2, up 267% YoY, and the company remains debt-free with a net worth of ₹69,493 crore, maintaining the highest Crisil AAA (Stable) / Crisil A1+ credit rating.

Volume and Cost Leadership Propel Growth

Ambuja achieved its highest-ever Q2 sales volume at 16.6 million tonnes, marking a 20% YoY increase, nearly five times the industry average. The company’s per metric tonne (PMT) EBITDA rose 32% YoY to ₹1,060, underpinned by a 5% reduction in total cost of sales.

Despite challenges from prolonged monsoons, Ambuja’s strong execution and technology-led optimisation ensured cost savings across key parameters: kiln fuel (-2%), power (-6%), and logistics (-7%). Green power consumption jumped 14.3 percentage points to 32.9%, reinforcing its sustainability focus.

“This quarter reaffirms Ambuja’s leadership in operational efficiency and sustainable growth,” said Vinod Bahety, Whole Time Director & CEO, Ambuja Cements. “Our AI-powered Cement Intelligent Network Operations Centre (CiNOC) is a transformative step, embedding intelligence deep into every function—from production to logistics. We’re well-positioned to achieve our FY28 cost target of ₹3,650 PMT, while maintaining a positive growth trajectory.”

Expansion Momentum: FY28 Capacity Target Raised to 155 MTPA

Ambuja has revised its FY28 cement capacity target from 140 MTPA to 155 MTPA, with 15 MTPA incremental capacity to be achieved through debottlenecking at a capex of just USD 48/MT.

Key developments include:

  • Trial run initiated for the new 4 MTPA kiln line at Bhatapara (Chhattisgarh).
  • 2 MTPA Krishnapatnam Grinding Unit (GU) operationalised, with 7 MTPA across Salai Banwa, Marwar, Dahej, and Kalamboli expected in Q3 FY26.
  • 200 MW of solar power commissioned, taking total renewable capacity to 673 MW, to reach 900 MW by FY26-end and 1,122 MW by FY27.
  • Installation of 13 blenders to optimise product mix and boost premium cement share to 35% of trade sales.

ESG and Innovation: Powering the Future of Green Cement

Ambuja remains at the forefront of sustainable operations with impressive ESG credentials:

  • Water positive by 29.6x, Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) maintained across all plants.
  • 7.1 million trees planted under Adani Group’s green pledge.
  • 60% green power target by FY28 to reduce energy cost to ₹4.5 per kWh.
  • Recognised as “India’s Most Trusted Cement Brand 2025” by TRA Research for the fourth consecutive year.

The CiNOC (Cement Intelligent Network Operations Centre) integrates Agentic AI, enabling autonomous decision-making across operations and enhancing stakeholder engagement.

Strategic Partnerships and Technology Synergies

Ambuja has entered into a strategic MoU with CONCOR for tank container logistics, paving the way for Bulk Cement Terminals (BCTs) to optimise supply chain costs and emissions.
Collaborations with CREDAI, academic institutions, and Adani Cement FutureX initiative aim to build future-ready capabilities in materials science and construction technologies.

The company also ordered 7 vessels with a total capacity of 65,800 DWT, expected to increase the share of sea logistics to 5%, further reducing costs and carbon footprint.

 Integration and Growth Synergies

Ambuja has successfully integrated Orient, Penna, and Sanghi assets into the Ambuja/ACC brand ecosystem. While the quarter absorbed higher promotional and maintenance costs, the synergies are expected to yield improved consolidated EBITDA in the coming quarters.

The company remains the preferred cement supplier for marquee projects like:

  • Navi Mumbai International Airport
  • Chenab Bridge, the world’s highest railway arch
  • Maa Umiya Temple, Ahmedabad, which set a world record with 24,100 cubic meters of concrete poured non-stop in 54 hours.

 Outlook: Sustained Double-Digit Growth Ahead

With GST on cement reduced from 28% to 18%, coupled with robust infrastructure investment, Ambuja expects 7–8% annual demand growth and double-digit revenue expansion in FY26.

“Our leadership journey is about creating a high-efficiency, low-cost, and sustainable enterprise. We are not just building cement plants—we’re building the foundation for India’s growth story,” said Bahety.

Recognition and Awards

Ambuja won multiple honours in Q2 FY26, including:

  • Best CX & Influencer Mastery Award at the 12th DCX Customer Experience Confex 2025
  • Gold Awards at the ISDA Infracon National Awards 2025 for HSE and construction excellence
  • CII Energy Management Awards 2025: Chittapur plant named “National Energy Leader”; nine others recognised for excellence
