Warren Buffets are not born but made by honing their skills with their hands-on experience in the stock market. Aiming to help students build marketable skills, the knowledge needed to compete for finance jobs and to provide hands-on experience that they will use in their future careers, Bloomberg holds annual Global Trading Challenge. Through this 6-7-week simulated competition, teams of 3-5 students (led by a faculty advisor) will compete against other top students around the world to experience firsthand what real-world investing looks and feels like.
Teams will use the Terminal to define market assumptions, develop a return-generating strategy, and execute trades within a closed network. The winning team will have the highest time weighted relative return, relative to the Bloomberg World Large, Mid & Small Cap Price Return Index (WLS Index).
Gujaratis are always ahead of others in the investment sector
Student participants have to invest virtual US dollars, using the Bloomberg Terminal to define market assumptions, develop a return-generating strategy, and execute notional trades within a closed network, while receiving support from faculty advisors and training from Bloomberg employees.
Last week an Amdavadi youth-led students’ team has proved its mettle in Bloomberg Global Trading Challenge. This once again shows that Gujaratis are always ahead of others in the investment sector with their analytical acumen and strategy.

Leadership has been the cornerstone of my journey since childhood: Sonit
“Leadership has been the cornerstone of my journey since childhood. Serving as Head Boy for four consecutive years, I cultivated strong interpersonal skills and learned the value of fostering collaborative environments. Building on two years of hands-on experience in business operations, I continued to seek opportunities to empower others during my time at Christ University. As the Class Representative for 2MCOMIF, I championed event participation, organized skill development workshops, and fostered a supportive classroom atmosphere where every voice was valued. This commitment to leadership expanded in my second year when I was elected as the University Student Council representative for all PG programs under the Department of Professional Studies.”
Empathy and communication skills—key traits for connecting with people
“Beyond leadership, my love for poetry has refined my empathy and communication skills—key traits for connecting with people and solving problems effectively. My passion for financial markets is deeply rooted in my upbringing. Growing up in Ahmedabad, Gujarat—a city that breathes the spirit of the share bazaar—I immersed myself in my family’s financial advisory business for two years. This hands-on experience, coupled with the city’s vibrant trading culture, solidified my foundational knowledge and sharpened my skills in finance. As the captain of Team Doji, I leveraged my deep understanding of financial markets, strategic leadership, and large-scale management experience to guide my team to success. These accomplishments underscore my dedication to finance, leadership, and fostering a thriving community for learning and growth,” shared Sonit Rajpurohit about his journey of bringing this glory to the nation.
When asked whether he would share his winning mantra with his juniors, Sonit Rajpurohit said, “Apart from classroom lessons, I used to spare nearly two hours for watching the stock markets live, including experts talks and reading books. And above all my parents have brought up me well gy creating conducive atmosphere. Guruji’s school has taught me spirituality, ethics and critical thikning.”
