AHMEDABAD, MAY 1
As part of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation’s (AMC) flagship campaign ‘40 Lakh Trees Initiative,’ the Centre for Environment Education (CEE) has launched a city-wide seed collection drive and seed-to-plant workshops in schools in Ahmedabad, under its AmdaVadmA project.

The first session was held on Thursday at Maharaja Agrasen Vidyalaya. which created a lively atmosphere for this large-scale event. The event saw active participation of about 240 students. Each of them brought seeds from their homes. The students were introduced to different types of seeds and learned practical sowing techniques according to the characteristics and environmental requirements of each species.
The workshop not only aimed to provide practical training but also to nurture environmental consciousness in young minds. The organisation of a pledge ceremony was a highlight of the session, in which students pledged to plant at least one seedling during the upcoming monsoon – a symbol of their individual role in making Ahmedabad greener, more sustainable.
The Center for Environmental Education (CEE) encourages schools and other organizations to come forward and organize more such workshops and awareness activities. These efforts play a vital role in promoting environmental responsibility and aligning community actions with the broader goal of increasing urban green cover.
This initiative is a step towards encouraging citizens, especially the youth, to support AMC’s vision of planting 4 million trees, ensuring a healthier and more climate-resilient city.
