To mark the momentous occasion, the Gujarat Lokseva Trust unveiled its new initiative, “Vadil Dattak Yojana”, which aims to identify old-age homes and provide personalised support to senior citizens, ensuring dignity and comfort in their golden years, and underscoring the trust’s commitment to empowerment and inclusion.

As part of the celebrations, the trust invited over 300 beneficiaries, including differently-abled individuals, widows and athletes from Ahmedabad.

Union Minister of Home and Cooperation Amit Shah, the Chief Guest on the occasion, visited the domes, interacted with the beneficiaries and handed over tricycles, sewing machines and sports kits to them. Ahmedabad Mayor Pratibha Jain also graced the occasion.

In his address, Rohan Gupta, Trustee of Gujarat Lokseva Trust, said, “This journey of 34 years reflects the power of compassion and service. We identify 20-25 thousand beneficiaries each year and support them. In the last two years, we have helped more than two lakh people get the benefits of government schemes. As we step into our 35th year, we are even more determined to continue our efforts to uplift the Vruddh (elderly), Vidyarthi (students), Viklang (differently-abled), Vidhva (widows) and Vanchit (the underprivileged) and create a meaningful change.”

Speaking on the occasion, Amit Shah said, “As Gujarat Lokseva Trust enters its 35th year, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the trustees for their noble and selfless efforts. I am here today to acknowledge the remarkable work being done by this organisation. True knowledge, as Swami Vivekananda said, lies in rising above oneself to serve others. This trust exemplifies this spirit of service and compassion.”

He also reiterated the central government’s commitment to public welfare as envisioned by the committee that drafted the Indian Constitution. He said that since Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister in 2014, the government has undertaken a host of initiatives to ensure basic facilities like housing, food, healthcare and education to citizens.

“These initiatives have lifted 25 crore people out of poverty in the last ten years. However, I firmly believe that the government cannot achieve this on its own. Many trusts and individuals have contributed to realising this,” he said.

The Union Home Minister also commended Gujarat’s deep-rooted values of service, highlighting its leadership in per capita blood donation, charitable healthcare facilities, and organ and eye donations.

“Gujarat continues to inspire the nation with its values of service and philanthropy. Organisations like Gujarat Lokseva Trust are pivotal in building a welfare state,” he said.

Established in 1990 by Rajkumar Gupta and Surekha Gupta, the Gujarat Lokseva Trust has been selflessly working towards assisting the needy. The trust has helped more than 5 lakh people through scholarships, providing tricycles, wheelchairs and other equipment to the differently-abled, organising free medical checkup camps, providing medical assistance, and other means. In addition, the trust helps the underserved communities avail benefits of various government schemes, acting as a bridge between the government and beneficiaries.

By leveraging social media and other channels, the trust has reached lakhs of people with its services. This initiative has also encouraged others to connect with the trust and support its noble causes.

As the trust enters its 35th year, it has resolved to establish a campus to provide free education to children, a hospital offering free healthcare services to the needy, an old-age home for the elderly, an orphanage, and a training centre for self-employment to empower the underprivileged to become self-reliant.

The trust is not only a symbol of service to humanity but also a ray of hope for the underprivileged. Under the able leadership of Rohan Gupta and Arpan Gupta, the trust is committed to elevating its activities to new heights.
