Anyone having the voter ID card of Vejalpur Assembly constituency can register by scanning the QR code or by visiting vejalpurstartupfestival.com. So far over 800 have registered and it is soaring,” Amit Thaker added.

Throwing light on this initiative for youth, Amit Thaker said, “Of the 10,000 registered startups in Gujarat, nearly 147 are from Ahmedabad city and over 50 percent are from Vejalpur Assembly constituency. With an aim to facilitate them, we have joined hands with i-Hub, a catalyst for nurturing entrepreneurship and innovation and the Gujarat University Startup and Entrepreneurship Council (GUSEC) who will help them in mentoring and help get funding.”
PM’s vision pays rich dividends
Incidentally, the Startup India initiative was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 16, 2016, at a time when the total number of start-ups was just about 400. After eight years, it has grown into 1.18 lakh. Start-ups are significantly contributing to the Indian government’s efforts to strengthen the economy.
Gujarat nurtures startups
Gujarat ranked as the ‘best performers’ in developing startup ecosystem for budding entrepreneurs, according to the ranking of states and Union Territories by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT). Gujarat has been ranked as the best performer for the fourth time in a row and bagged the award for 2022 recently.
