NEW DELHI, DEC 4
Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah, along with Members of the Parliamentary Consultative Committee of the Ministry of Cooperation, will undertake a three-day field visit to Banas Dairy, Banaskantha, to review its fast-expanding initiatives in dairy development, circular economy, livestock improvement, water conservation and rural cooperative empowerment.
The visit, scheduled from 4–6 December 2025, aims to showcase how Banas Dairy—India’s largest milk cooperative—has become a national model for value addition, farmer income enhancement and sustainable dairy-led development.
The 3rd meeting of the Parliamentary Consultative Committee will be held at Banas Dairy on 6 December, where the progress of cooperative dairy development initiatives will be reviewed in detail.
During the public meeting at Sanadar the same day, Amit Shah will inaugurate the Agthala Bio-CNG and Fertilizer Plant, a major circular-economy initiative that converts cattle waste into clean energy and organic fertilizer—strengthening farmer income and reducing carbon emissions. He will also lay the foundation stone for the state-of-the-art 150 TPD Milk Powder and Baby Food Plant, set to position Banas Dairy as a major hub for high-quality nutrition products.
Ahead of the meeting, Members of Parliament will tour Banas Dairy’s advanced processing units at Palanpur, including the Cheese, UHT and Protein Plants, which support the production of innovative value-added products such as high-protein lassi and buttermilk.
The delegation will also assess livestock-centric facilities including the Dama Semen Station and Embryo Transfer Lab at Raiya, which contribute to higher cattle productivity and improved rural incomes.
To study the grassroots impact of the cooperative model, MPs will visit the Sherpura Village Dairy Cooperative Society in Deesa on 5 December, followed by a review of the Banas Soil Testing Lab at Tharad.
The delegation will additionally tour the Amrit Sarovar at Jherda, one of the 319 water bodies rejuvenated by Banas Dairy as part of its water conservation efforts. During the visit, MPs will also join a tree-plantation ceremony at Lunava, recognising the cooperative’s large-scale ecological initiatives, including the plantation of more than 9 crore seed balls and saplings across the region.
