The Indian Railways is undergoing a major transformation to boost infrastructure and enhance the passenger experience and travelling comfort. In his post-budget announcement, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw stressed on the modernization of existing infrastructure. In this context, the redevelopment of railway stations is of immense importance.

The national transporter has identified 1,275 railway stations across the country, including the border areas for redevelopment under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. The works of station upgradation are generally executed under Plan Head- 53 Customer Amenities. The allocation of funds for the development and maintenance of stations is done zonal Railway-wise.
