The Andhra Pradesh government will strictly adhere to Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) rules for ensuring that products purchased by the ESI are consistently produced and controlled according to quality standards.
This was revealed during the review meeting, held here on Tuesday by Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on workers’ welfare and healthcare.
The officials said that irregularities were committed in the purchase of medicines by the ESI. Officials and at times cosmetics were purchased in the place of medicines by the ESI. The Chief Minister said that there should be no room for anomalies in the purchase of medicines for the workforce.
All standards for the Implementation of health services should be strictly followed, the Chief Minister said adding that the ESI should release bills on the spot. He sought proposals for the improvement of services in ESI hospitals and directed the officials to strictly adhere to the smooth functioning of hospitals.
As it was already decided to increase the number of teaching hospitals to 27 from the existing 11 and thereby have a teaching hospital and a nursing college in each parliamentary constituency, the services of the new doctors from these colleges should be utilised in the ESI hospitals.
The Chief Minister said that concerted efforts should be made to curb pollution in the state. He said pollution at sea was leading to severe environmental degradation. As such he said pollution control measures should be displayed at all places to ensure proper healthcare for workers.
Efforts should be made to fill all the vacancies in the labour department, the Chief Minister said and added that he would write a letter to the Prime Minister about the pending LIC claims to the workers, a release from the Chief Minister’s Office said.
