Anna University Vice Chanceller Dr R Velraj on Wednesday unveiled a digital forensics laboratory for cyber security of SkillsDA training institute at Kottivakkam in Chennai.
Unveiling the high-level DIFR laboratory, Dr Velraj said that these kind of advanced forensic laboratories are the need of the hour. As our economy grows leaps and bounds for over three decades, at the same time cyber-crimes also increasing numerously. With the advent of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, it is necessary to create trained personnel to prevent/detect cyber-crimes, he added.
- The ISO accredited digital forensics lab, open to academia, industry professionals, corporates, government, and law enforcement agencies, offers a unique blend of theoretical knowledge and 70% practical hands-on experience.
- The institute is also launching a Certified Financial Fraud Investigator course in addition to other DFIR courses.

The VC lauded SkillsDA’s efforts in providing quality education in the field of cyber security & DFIR and the pace of setting up the DIFR laboratory within three months of planning.
Addressing the media, the Vice Chancellor said that the University will collaborate with the SkillsDA institute to train/update the knowledge of faculty members as well students pursuing cyber-crime related course.
Kottaram V Ramesh, Founder Director and Chief Vision Officer of SkillsDA, said, “Ingu’s Knowledge Academy, under the brand SkillsDA, has set up a high-level DFIR (Digital Forensics and Incident Response) lab to impart training to aspiring digital forensics investigators among students, law enforcement officers, cyber lawyers, and corporate digital security professionals.”
He also said the software and hardware tools in the lab are the latest and technically advanced ones to do precise analysis and investigations.
He further said that the institute offers different course with the minimum fees of Rs. 3,000 to Rs 30,000. Minimum qualification required for pursuing the course is Plus 2 with good academic records.
Sankar Vijayan, Director of SkillsDA said, “There are many institutions which are teaching digital forensics courses but they don’t have the lab for hands on training for acquiring practical knowledge. Here comes SkillsDA DIFR lab, a great place to connect and learn to become a Forensics specialist’’.
Panchi, Additional Director, SkillsDA and in-Charge of BFSI business said, “We are also launching a course Certified Financial Fraud Investigator for enabling aspirants to become job ready in Banking, Finance and Insurance fields. The course covers core banking, cyber security, financial forensics and niche topics like e-com fraud analysis and financial statement fraud analysis.”
