AP government to pay Rs 2,000 for COVID-19 discharged patients

Andhra Pradesh Government will pay Rs 2,000 to each of the discharged COVID 19 patient for buying nutritious food to enhance immunity power.

During a review meeting held here on Sunday, chaired by Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, the officials said that financial assistance of Rs 2,000 will be paid to those who are discharged enabling them to buy nutritious food for boosting immunity power.

For the same officials said that so far 231 members were discharged. A few have received the amount while others will also get the allowance, the officials said.

The officials briefed on COVID-19 cases in the state and said that two persons have infected the virus in Vijayawada to 19 persons. Likewise, a Delhi returnee in West Godavarai district was the reason behind the virus spread.

With concern to the panic situation being created among the public due to fake news and a section of media highlighting the unnecessary issues, Chief Minister instructed the officials to take necessary steps to fill confidence among the public instead of fear.

The officials have notified few instances to Chief Minister where the members recovered from COVID-19 have been faced discrimination in their locality. This was due to highlighting of issues related to COVID-19 in a few media channels that create panic among the public, said health experts. Chief Minister ordered the officials to create awareness among the people and take necessary measures to make them understand the facts

Nadu-Nedu in hospitals

The Chief Minister made it clear that Nadu-Nedu programme works in the hospitals should be completed within the deadlines. It is essential to provide required infrastructure faculties in the hospitals to face such situation of pandemic. He ordered the officials to ensure that other emergency services should not be affected and fill the vacant positions of doctors and nurses.

The officials told Chief Minister that the state tops in the country in terms of conducting more number of tests per million population. The after effects of lockdown, health of high risk patients due to virus outbreak, and other crucial issues are being discussed with the experts, officials told Chief Minister.

CM seeks Finance Minister’s intervention to evacuate stranded fishermen in Gujarat

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy spoke to Union ministers seeking the rescue of Andhra fishermen stranded in Gujarat and told them about the steps being taken by the State on COVID-19 situation.

During the review meeting held here on Sunday, the Chief Minister said that he spoke to Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, who is the nodal officer for Andhra Pradesh, seeking the Centre’s help in sending back Andhra fishermen stranded in Gujarat due to lockdown. An officer from Nirmala Sitharaman’s office has been assigned to coordinate with the State for the rescue operation.

The Union Finance Minister assured of coordination between the two states and send back the stranded fishermen. In this regard senior official Satish Chandra will coordinate with the Union Minister’s office on behalf of the State.

In a separate telephonic conversation with Union Home Minister Amit Shah, the Chief Minister has explained the preventive measures being taken by the State to stop the spread of COVID 19.

He mentioned that AP tops in the country with an average 1274 COVID-19 tests being conducted per million population in the state. They have also discussed about the implementation of guidelines with few changes in the lockdowm after April 20 and dealing with the after effects of lockdown.

Special Chief Secretary Medical and Health Jawahar Reddy and other officials were present.
