AMARAVATI, MARCH 24
The Andhra Pradesh government is fully equipped to control spread of coronavirus, said PV Ramesh, the Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister here on Tuesday.
Explaining the measures initiated by the State government, Ramesh said that the role of the public is very important in managing the pandemic, where self-isolation and maintaining social distance plays a prominent role.
Speaking to the media, PV Ramesh said that since the reports of COVID-19 outbreak have emerged, Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has been closely monitoring the situation. In regard to this, a high-power task force headed by the Chief Secretary has been constituted, which is constantly monitoring the situations in every district across the State. He further appealed to the public not to panic over the disease and stigmatize the foreign returnees.
So far, seven positive cases have been registered across the State and one of them was recovered. Through the door-to-door survey, we were able to identify around 14,000 foreign returnees, where 53 of them are under hospital isolation. All the hospitals are fully equipped with all the required facilities, ICUs and ventilators.
“The public are being urged to stay indoors and not to come out unnecessarily. In case any person has symptoms of cough, cold and fever, all they have to do is to call 104 or the district helpline to seek medical advice. They can take simple medication like Paracetamol of 650 mg but not to go for Ibuprofen or Aspirin or any other complex medications. Persons with Asthma and Chronic ailments have to be extra careful and have to seek medical advice upon having any slight symptoms. All the essential commodities will be made available all day long for the convenience of the public.” he added.
Ramesh said, unlike other states, Andhra Pradesh is able to monitor the situation at ground-level effectively through village secretaries which have ANMs, nurses, Asha workers, and village volunteers. Public have to cooperate with the government and act according to the instructions given, says a release from CMO.
