ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India), a joint venture between ArcelorMittal and Nippon Steel, two of the world’s leading steelmakers, has organised a series of events to observe the 52nd National Safety week from March 4 to 10.
In sync with its commitment to the safety and security of its employees and workers, AM/NS India is organising the events during National Safety Week under the theme “Our Aim – Zero Harm”.
The National Safety Week commenced on Saturday with a flag hoisting ceremony, which was followed by the Safety Nukkad, a demonstration of various safety procedures for employees of AM/NS India.
An exhibition on Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) has been organised as a part of National Safety Week. Another highlight of the week-long event is Kaun Banega Surakshapati, which will see several rounds of quizzes based on safety and related aspects.
“Safety is the most important value at AM/NS India, and it is ingrained in our DNA throughout our operations. We have put in place the most stringent systems and practices to ensure the safety and security of our workers and employees. We also believe that safety is not the result of just systems or equipment, but habits. We aim to bring a cultural transformation among all people connected directly or indirectly with AM/NS India when it comes to safety. We are confident that the various events organised during the National Safety Week will help in achieving that,” said Sarang Mahajan, Head – Health and Safety, AM/NS India & Indonesia.
Extempore LSGR (Life Saving Golden Rules), sessions and spotting the hazards, and online expert sessions on health and safety to educate workers on various safety measures and best practices to follow have been organised as a part of the week-long event. Safety skits, safety poster competition, safety slogan competition, and safety poem competition have also been organised to involve the maximum number of people in safety initiatives.
National Safety Week is observed in India every year from March 4 to 10 to raise awareness about industrial safety and to promote the importance of a safe and healthy work environment. Its main objective is to create awareness about the various hazards and dangers present in the workplace and to educate workers on how to avoid them.
