After a two-year hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the students of SAL School of Architecture & SAL School of Interior Design have organized “INCIPIENT’23”, an amalgamation of architecture, design, art, technology exhibition.
The three-day exhibition was inaugurated on the SAL Education Campus, opposite Science City on Sola Road, Ahmedabad on Friday and will remain open till Sunday, Feb 5, said the student representatives.
This exhibition showcases works, innovation, ability, inspiration and talent of 5 years (BArch), 2 years MArch and BID students. Each year, the exhibition explores different themes, ranging from space, climate change, green buildings, using waste materials, earthquake-resistant materials like bamboo and form to 3D architecture. According to the exhibition organisers, the 2023 exhibition aims to dissect the cycle of creation in art, design, and architecture. Students have presented projects on a wide variety of topics including Material & Climate Response, Institutional Design Studio, Masters Architect Studio, Housing Studio, Thesis Final Year, Form Exploration, Our Historical Places etc.

- Famous names in the field of architecture, including Professor Charanjit Shah, Architect Neelkanth H Chhaya, Architect Lokendra Balsaria and Architect Parul Zaveri are taking part in this present.
- All students of architecture and interior design colleges from across Gujarat and school students from class 10 to 12 can visit to explore new ideas
The exhibition will take place for three days, from February 3 to 5. The event will also feature displays showcasing photography, live art and architectural models. Entry is free for everyone.
This three-day event is being attended by many eminent personalities from the architectural fraternity and well-known persona along with the Architectural professionals and related industry experts where they can share their experiences and guidelines with the students.
Rupesh Vasani, Director, SAL Education Campus said, “More than 300 students of SAL’s Architecture Department will display their works in this exhibition. This annual exhibition is held every year, but it is being held for the first time after the corona pandemic. All students of architecture and interior design colleges from across Gujarat and school students from class 10 to 12 can also visit to explore new ideas.”
Dr Ramanjyot Shrivastava, Principal, SAL School of Architecture said, “We at SAL School of Architecture, Ahmedabad believe in the phrase ‘Thinking by Doing’. Distinguished architects from Delhi and Ahmedabad being invited for guest lectures. On the first day of the exhibition i.e., on February 3, famous professor of architecture S Charanjit Shah and Architect Neelkanth H Chhaya were present, who spoke on ‘Innovation in Architecture and Beyond’ and ‘Our Journey Together’ respectively, on February 4, Architect Lokendra Balsaria will lecture on ‘Environment and Traditional Wisdom for Better Habitat Design’ and Architect Parul Zaveri on ‘Sustainability: Exploration of Our Practice’. While a cultural event has been organized by the students of Sal Architecture School on February 5, in which the students will present their various presentations and introduce the cultural arts.”
